This week, our absolutely unexpectedly gotten rat babies turned 3 weeks and had to be separated to not get another litter in the next future. Now we have to find new homes for the most of them.

And I really wouldn't mind, if my health would have been better.
But, never the less, I have arted a good load, as I still didn't have any translation jobs to work at, and work at school had settled in.
A dream board has been started and finished inspired by the one by Tamara Laporte

And another spread for my Life Book is emerging inspired by Bonnie Rose Bryan's class

And there are a couple of new spreads in my art journal, most of them - inspired by Effy Wild's Book of Days and the life of the group of more than 1 000 women around this project

I'm not having any translations to work at this week, so I'm enjoying plenty of rest and "me" time: sleeping in, watching art videos and live streams, hanging out in art groups on Facebook and Ning. I'm playing in my art journal as well, but not too much, this is more a receptive and contemplating week for me.

This week, I'm pretty busy with another translation and the beginning of a new semester at school, but feeling better than during the first 10 days of the year :)

I even created my first ever ATC for a challenge by Rachelle Panagarry.

And I knit ruffled scarves, while watching movies before going to bed. :)

My First Share of 2012 - Eat Like an Artist in 2012

... Oxygen is THE primary nutrient. Get as much as you can. Take long deep breaths before, during and after you go to bed, get out of bed, speak, respond, make a decision, eat something, drink something or smoke.
Don’t smoke. But if you do, breathe more than you smoke.
Hang around trees. They are making oxygen all day long and giving it away for free. They are also willing to teach you how to be still, silent and patient, to have deep roots, a strong spine and arms that reach towards the sun.
Drink water. Drink more water than any other liquid. Have a glass of water right after you breathe and before doing any of the things above. Go have a glass of water right now.
If you drink coffee or wine or scotch, be moderate. Stop with the first flush. And always-always-always drink only the finest coffee, wine and scotch you can afford. This is non negotiable.
Eat Food. Real food. Beautiful food. Vibrant food. Living food. Eat many plants because plants are so smart they figured out how to turn sunlight directly into food. Eat that miracle every single day.

It's a serene and sunny morning in my village. Only a bit more than 12 hours left for this year. I'm looking back at the year ready to pass and have to say, it has been a really splendiferous one: full of surprises and challenges and days and nights spent on-line with many beautiful souls, t.i., with you. :) And deep appreciation fills my heart for everything I have experienced this passing year, but, especially, for your friendship!

Thank you so very much for being my friend, for being there for me, when I needed your support, and letting me support you, when I felt, you needed it!

This is the spread in my art journal finished the day before my son got married at the other side of the globe to another man and two days before our new family member - the rat-girl Rosella - got babies without us knowing she was pregnant, when we took her :)

My Creative Space - Supporting others

Lately, I'm working much less at my own creations as supporting my apprentices in creating theirs. I can say, I love to do so very very much! And it doesn't mean to be less creative for me at all, as each of the young persons I work with is absolutely unique and it gives me a deep satisfaction to help them to find and develop their uniqueness :)

And at least once a day, I'm adding something to my art journal as well or at least looking through my pages and supplies trying to find out, if, where and what wants to be added :)

The shore of the Baltic sea in Bernati/Latvia/Europe

...Apparently up until this point the starseeds/lightworkers/indigos, etc. were the only anchors for this energy which meant we had to channel these ridiculously high frequencies thru our bodies alone, and while spread out all over the world, in order to ground the vibrations of universal love into the planet and assist the earth in her own ascension. We were the acupuncture needles required to open & stimulate the flow of chi through the crystalline grid. But as of the 11:11 and throughout 2012, the earth is aligning with her divine blueprint which means that we are now sharing the “burden” with her, which will of course make all our jobs way less cumbersome. Yesterday, I had a pretty busy day at home, but could not stop arting in my journal. In every pause, I could have, I had to return to it again and again. So, when I went to bed, it was almost finished. After I woke up today, the words rounded up the picture: "Through darkness towards the light". After checking my e-mails I knew, what it was about: a dear brother overseas had passed away on Monday and was saying good bye to me yesterday ...

Rest in peace, dear Mike!

Happiness in a Dark Moment - The Story of an Art Journal Spread

Most of my art journal spreads are filled over more than one day and many shorter or longer arting "sessions" (have never tried to count them, but I mean MANY :). The one I finished this morning survived many stages, some of what would never let me see the end result even in my most wild imagination :D

So I decided to show at least some glimpses of my process hoping to inspire you to art through your inner darkness and chaos, to be devoted to your thoughts and feelings at a particular moment and never stop, until you KNOW deap down, you have to.

It was the morning of the Equinox day. I woke up early and started with a cuppa and 1 whole hour of arting. I felt pretty satisfied with the result. I knew, it's far from being finished, but I also seemed to know, what was the idea wanting to materialize on that spread, and to see the way it was starting to do it.

Than I sat down on the compy, checked my FB wall and discovered my tribe in a deep crisis and one artist/teacher throwing buckets of poop on the tribe Mama (sleeping) and her right hand ... It was extremely confusing and saddening to me and many of the tribe ...

I was returning to my spread again and again ... And it was becoming all black and red and messy no matter, how much I was trying to get love and balance into it ...

Than I stepped away from it and went to the post office to get a parcel, I knew sitting there for a couple of days already. As I came back and opened it, there was a book I had wanted very much, but could not order by myself, so a dear artist/internet friend did it for me and sent it from the UK. And she had added some gorgeous goodies to use in my art. I was so happy and thankful, but just couldn't feel it because of the dark emotions stirred by the awful situation in the tribe ...

So I started to cut off and glue down pieces of one of the beautiful new tissues to cheer up my spread and my mood ... But it didn't change much ...

It needed one really good nights sleep, many sessions, 2 layers (even 3 in the center) of the beautiful tissue and some white, gold and yellow acrylic paint to start expressing more of the happiness I new sleeping in me.

Some more tissue paper, ink stampagge, acrylic paint started to cover spot by spot of the dark mess and a heart, a crown and a butterfly joined the scene to hold together both sides of the spread ...

And I knew, it was all about my dear friend in the UK and my appreciation for her being her, being my friend and the way she acted in this critical situation for our whole tribe, its leader and everyone of us ...

And I had found THE WORDS deep down in my heart and written them on the spread with graphite, as there was a moment, that made me breathless and my heart just jump up and down like a happy puppy:
THIS FRAGILE (and anatomically impossible:) SPIRIT MADE HER ENTRANCE

My hands didn't have to do much: just to add a little bit of graphite, ink, water and white acrylic.
Now, I just can't stop looking at the spread again and again beholding the miracle ...

My Creative Space - A Busy Week

This week was pretty busy for me: My body was fighting a virus, I had to prepare and conduct 3 workshops and was hosting this challenge. Some aftereffects of the virus are still there and I'm still tired from the workshops, but really happy they went well and are over already :) The first challenge entries are here and I hope there will be some more.
I managed to art every day, too. There are some new sketches in my sketch book and some new spreads in my art journal as well as some new angels and new colorful paper sheets. Have blogged about a couple of them already here and here. Can show you only one new angel for now, as I haven't shot pictures of them earlier and now it's pit dark here already. This angel just emerged on a page I had spread some acrylic paint over. It was such a miracle! I had only to outline the image and to give him/her some hallow.

There are some more images that showed up on my sheets that way, what makes me feel so happy and grateful! You'll meet them next time, promise ;)

Sunshine in the Mail Swap - Rita Has a Happy!!! :D

I know, I know, every day is just great, no matter what you feel, and such. But yesterday was one of the days, it wasn't hard to believe it at all, although it started with rain and me forgetting the umbrella and ended with my son saying: "A stupid story", when I finished to read a part of "The Mastery Of Love" by Don Miguel Ruiz to him before he fell asleep. (Thank goodness, I could just smile and say: "Good night, sweetie!") There were cooking, letting my bones to be checked, delivering a package to the post office, shopping and conducting a workshop in the town in between. And I'm still tired from it all, but there is one more thing, that made me feel really "sunshine and roses and lollipops" and stand up at 7 and start today with arting in my journal: I received a love package from my adorable Sunshine in the Mail Swap partner Yana Riethmuller.

When I opened the box, there was a WOW! and a pity to tear up all the package made with so much love and taste.

And there were even more WOW!z and appreciation, when I started to open them one by one. It felt so overwhelming great to be spoiled rotten by a person I don't know personally and didn't have any contacts to even online before this swap :D

And right away, I started a spread in my journal to use some pieces of the packaging and to capture these wonderful feelings awoken by a couple of small things made and packaged with great love.

Today, I'm still working on it and still feeling great. The wording for now: The Unexpected (that I'm mostly afraid of like: swaps mostly doesn't work for me, what if this doesn't, too?) can be the Great. :) Sorry for the bad images, there is not much of light here today: the rest of the tropical storm Katia has reached us. Thank goodness, today, when I can stay inside, and not yesterday, when I had to go to the town. :)

Yesterday, I stumbled upon this invitation by Louise Gale and thought to myself: Why not? Let's just relax and add to the happy vibrations on this planet! :)

Update: I was trying to feel happy and relaxed this week end, but my body was fighting a virus and my two teenagers didn't make it easier, so the spread didn't want to become "sunshine and roses and lollipops", no matter, how hard I tried to feel like that! :D

But than, on the Sunday evening I joined Effy Wild and my buddies from the Wild Precious Studio to our Church of Art with arting, chatting and loads of laughing. And this is, how this spread ended up: with funny glittery hearts (in all colors, so me: can never concentrate just on one or some of them :) and the wording: Sorry, dear virus, but my body has to kill you, so you don't kill my body :D

It's Monday afternoon here already, but I'm still grinning every time I look at the spread! :D

My Creative Space - Art Journalig and Beaded Butterfly

My Share for Today - Purpose or Perfection?

There is always alignment between your path and your beliefs, your life journey and purpose, the healing you have come to do and the experiences that you create for its accomplishment. Your highest purpose is the most powerful aspect that you are capable of at any moment. This is part of your soul agreement with Source and there is no single way to heaven on earth for anyone. Each one will arrive at their own pace and in their own time. To be aligned with your purpose is to be on your own path in each moment and this is all you can do. It is perfect.

The Universe never demands our perfection for it exists in all things, at all times and in all ways. Do you question the perfection of a flower or the ocean? Then why do you question your own perfection? Purpose exists in perfection but your purpose is not fulfilled by your becoming 'perfect'. You must begin at the point of perfection and know that you move from one aspect of perfection to another. Your purpose is to heal, not to be perfect. Perfection is not achieved in being better or the best, in having the most or being the fastest. It is who and what you are in the eyes of Source.

Your purpose exists in perfection at all times, even in those times when you feel afraid, lost, believe that you are not living up to your true potential or are unsure of your true purpose. You live your purpose in each moment and it includes all of your doubts and fears. Overcoming those is part of your purpose, as is having the courage to accept yourselves as who you are in each moment. The greatest gift you can give to yourself is to recognize your perfection so you can focus on the true purpose of your life path, which is to become a co-creator with spirit.

There is no purpose in seeking perfection, for it already exists. There is purpose in seeking truth, in shining your light and in being unafraid of criticism or of doubt. You are each a light of God, a beacon of the divine light of unconditional love and this is your perfection. Your purpose is to be who you are, to shine your light to the world and to honor yourselves and everyone else in their perfection. Then you can focus your energy on expanding from one aspect of perfection to another, moving through dimensions of time and energetic vibration as you align yourselves with the truth of your being and find joy in your perfection to create your heaven on earth. This week, I was working like mad: mostly, at some more translations, at my workshop, that nobody attended to (feeling relieved actually :), and at the school starting on the 1st of September here.

To keep me sane, I was arting now and than though. Not for long, but a bit every day again and again to reactivate my right hemisphere and to relax. So a couple of lovely faces showed up and I'm really really happy they did.

This week was even less creative, as I had to deliver a pretty challenging translation on Monday night and to restart listing new items in my Etsy shops. Managed to list a couple of new flower brooches and to sell some.

Painted my second Fire spread for the e-course "The Elements of Art Journaling" by Effy Wild.

Started a new scetchbook for the 75 Day Sketch Challenge by Brenda Swenson.

Most of the time, I'm preparing for my first mixed media/art journaling workshop. A bit nervous being a novice in it myself, but I can't wait to start sharing, what I have learned in Wild Precious Studio in the last 6 weeks. Got loads of new supplies for it and even managed to make my first 3 alcohol ink and acrylic sprays.

(Especially happy, how this turned out! :)

Now, I'm at a very meditative stage with this mixed media piece, slowly emerging out of loads of different impulses

I'm happy with all this, still having one big issue though: new impulses from all sides seem to swap me in a effervescent ocean of inspiration without any shores and islands. My Creative Space - Painting

Thanks to the generosity of Effy Wild I'm participating in her splendid e-course "The Elements of Art Journaling". I have already blogged about it here, here and here. Now we have got 2 weeks devoted to water and can sit in with our emotions and allow them to transform. This would be my first result of this process.

Another one is staring to emerge.

Actually, Effy's e-course is having an incredibly deep impact on my life and artist's path. I've started to live out my biggest dream: to speak to people through my art. I must have adopted the negative attitude towards being an artist of the society I grew up in, that I even didn't realize I still have this dream (after all those decades!). Until Effy (and the incredible Maisy!) encouraged me to just start using paper, paints and brushes again and to try out many supplies and techniques unknown to me until now! And I really feel like I'm starting to become a part of the magnificent family of female artists. *happy sob*
Now I'm arting every day and can't imagine, how I could survive all those years without it. This tribute to the life and death of Amy Winehouse is one of the images emerging out of my fresh adventures with simple and cheap painting supplies.

My creative space - Air

As some of you know, I'm participating in the e-course The Elements of Art Journaling by Effy Wild. And I'm feeling terrific! Effy and the whole e-course family is so loving and supporting in spite of tough times some of us are going through right now!

Here you can see the spreads I worked (and am still working) at this week devoted to Air. Would you like to see my attempts from the first two weeks? I blogged about them here and here. Keen to see at least some spreads of other participants? Our groups at Wild Precious Studio and Facebook are closed, but you can go to our Flickr group and be inspired! Can you believe, it is created by "ordinary chicks" of all ages? If I wouldn't be one of them, I couldn't! But now I just soak in this flow of love and creativity and adventure!
The only hassle is to stop arting to do anything else! Believe me, being a freelancer and a single mom of 2 teens and 2 cats, there would be loads to do every day. Have reduced it to the absolute minimum for these 6 weeks. Thank goodness, my babies don't mind :)!
And actually there is one more headache for me: the lack of art supplies! Effy and the other Wild Precious chicks are sharing so many creative ideas I'd love to try out right away, but you can't do it with thin air! Hoping to get some new stuff to play with next Monday, when I'll be in town (could you, please, cross something for me, so it isn't hell-ish expensive?).

Have never thought, I'd return to paper - the medium of my childhood. Thanks to Effy Wild's generosity I'm participating in her e-course "The Elements of Art Journaling". Registration is still open here

Having dual feelings about what I'm doing right now:
- thrilled to learn and do something new, to meet Effy and other sweet creative ladies, to forget everything over playing with my stash,
- guilty for the "waist" of supplies, time, energy just to play and grow (seemingly nothing for my classes, for sale or to wear) ...
Don't like the last ones and don't think they have any alibi to crap up my well deserved fun, but they just show me something I thought to be long gone: the fear of "wasting" and lacking of something afterwards...
Back to "work" now :)

Looking back isn't actually my thing, but a lovely girl has started a new blog feature and yours truly loves to try something new :) So here I am looking back at the beginning of my on-line handmade affair.

My first on-line shop was opened as soon, as I had learned the first bead weaving stitch and finished my first peaces of beadwoven jewelry. This pair of earring was the first to find a new home in Netherlands after 2 months in spite of the dark picture and the clumsy description :)

By the way: brick stitch and rustic stone beads are still my favorites :)

Actually, I mostly don't make plans and do live every day, as I feel led by the Source. Working as a freelancer from home and living as a single parent together with 2 teenagers and 2 cats wouldn't make much sense in making plans and trying to follow them up :) But there are mostly some wishes and some appointments with others for the days coming though.

So for this week I have planned to conduct 3 workshops, some shopping in the town and a short meeting with my mom. And I'd like to go to line dance on Thursday and continue working in our garden, as the weather allows.

This week, I finished this fabric flower. I wanted just to replace pictures and measurements in a listing in my Etsy shop of an older flower from the same blue fabric I don't like any more, but that one has made it to a new Treasury list, so I'm not sure, what to do now :)

I'm learning a new bead weaving technique again and finished this pansy yesterday. It is my entry to this challenge. Actually, I made another flower before that, but it's hiding somewhere and don't let me shoot pictures of it. As soon, as I've recovered from tonight's line dance jamboree, there will be some more order :) Or maybe even before that :)

Last week, I received this gorgeous gift made by Anke - a great German artist working with various materials, including polymer clay.

Last week end, I sold some of these large sea stones and got an order for 10 beaded beads! YAY!

As my right shoulder is inflamed for more than 3 months now, many things are too painful to do, but not knitting. :) So I'm doing it pretty much lately. For now a lacy scarf from a super light acrylic yarn is on my needles. Being a big lover of natural materials including yarns, I appreciate the great qualities of the acrylic yarns though: cheap, not allergic, super soft, light, easy to care for, extremely easy to work with.

We've got some fresh snow and more light at the day time here because of the snow reflecting it.

So I could finish the black pullover! YAY!

Now I'm knitting tiny mits and wristwarmers for my niece's sons. A bit challenging again: they live in Scottland :)
