This week I'm playing with a new toy - the French knitting dolly. I'm not sure yet, how to use the finished ropes. Please, let me know, if you have any ideas!
Surfing on the web I just found this video showing, how to make a braided rope with a self made simple tool. Cool, ha? Loooove the style of the video!

How lovely doll! :)
oh, those ropes look like they can be used all different ways. I used to use them for handles for felted bags. They would make great ties for hats too. Your little guy is so cute!
I tried this with nylon fishing thread an little beads in between, makes a funny necklace !
Thank you so much for sharing your ideas!
Looks interesting. Maybe you could string some large wooden beads on it and make cosy winter necklace. :)
That brings back memories of my gran, she was the one that showed me how to use the knitting dolly. Thank you x
Thank you so much gals!
Hi Rita...my sister and I once made a length of French knitting that would encircle the Earth! can't remember doing anything useful with it but since then I have made place mats, rugs and hats. Hope you get lots of ideas:)
Thanx a lot Sue!
Looks like that little guy would make it lots of fun Rita! Could you make some sort of colourful necklace with the ropes? Maybe braid them together in different colours afterwards? They're lovely, neat little ropes!
Thanx Naomi!
the dollie is so sweet ... i love those ropes for ties in clothing instead of ribbon. so much nicer and no fraying to worry about.

Beautiful knitting doll!
YOu could sew them together in a spiral type thing to make circles - and use as mats or even rugs if you keep going.
I've seen pictures of these dolls before, they look like they'd be fun. I've never got a chance to try them out yet, though. Maybe some day. :)
Genial dispatch and this enter helped me alot in my college assignement. Thanks you on your information.
