Working With My First Chakra

Last week has been pretty turbulent for me and my family because of my son and his spouse visiting us from Canada.

So I'm really late with my post, but better late than never, right?

Last Monday, I discovered the ChakrART FREE Workshop with Simona Cordara. Somehow, the idea really spoke to me, so I joined the Facebook group and worked with my root chakra more or less every day of the last week. And this is, how far I got with my process yesterday.

It's something really unusual for me, but I really liked the process and am still adding patterns to it. :) I have never been good at doodles or zen tangles, but the process is very meditative for me and I really like to spend my time with it. Might start working with the next chakra tomorrow.

Solstice Goddess

Lately, I don't paint much, as I'm participating in loads of on-line courses, most of them - not art related.

But do you remember my Solstice piece?

This is, where we are now.

An additional bonus: doing my research about Latvian deities, I "stumbled upon" a lovely lady from US and her blog.

Dark Mother 2

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you must already know, that, last week, I got inspired by the Dark Mother and started a painting dedicated to her, practically an icon, as I had no plans whatsoever, before I started it, and, I believe, the Dark Mother itself guided me to start it and through the whole process.

To be honest, we had some pretty tough moments together, especially, when she decided to show up naked. :) These are some of the phases we went through together.

I'm not sure, if we are completely done with each other already, but we most definitely are coming along well again and this is more or less, how the manifestation of the Dark Mother looks right now.

Now, I have to complete the week 2 assignment for the Introduction to Art course.  As my youngest son is having his graduating party this coming Saturday, I have to push myself a bit not to miss the deadline. :)

Update: We seem to be done with each other now

Some More Bubbles and Blue

For the last week, I played a bit more with bubbles :)

A new painting on a 60x80 cm stretched canvas was started as always with some home made gesso and recycled paper collage.

Then, I added one of the glimmer mists from The Tattered Angels Paint System - the Chalkboard spray called Decadence.

The next layer was created peeling a couple of cooked beetroots over the canvas and rubbing it in with my hands :)

And so on, and so on, at one point adding some of the Tattered Angels paint called Dirty Martini to each of the bubbles and trying out the new supplies from my great haul as well.

Yesterday, I covered it with a satin varnish tinted with the Phthalo blue paint by Amsterdam using a wet sponge and called it finished.

Playing with Circles

The last couple of days have been pretty intense for me, and I'll try to tell you about the most important events in a little series of posts. One thing I have done a lot, was playing with circles and bubbles, as "Full Circle" was the theme for a bunch of assignments in the CAPI course with Milliande. This is, what came out of the first exercise

Sorry for the bad quality of the images: my camera obviously has hard time focusing on such kind of objects. :)
Stay tuned for more!

Some More Blue

On Tuesday, my health had improved enough to go to the Evening Studio in the town, so I could continue working at the painting I started there. First of all, I added some of the blue glimmer mist from The Tattered Angels Paint System I received a week ago.

Then, I continued listening to it and my intuition as to what else needs to be added. When we left, it looked like this, and I have the feeling it's not far from being finished.

Now, I have to start thinking about a new surface to start a new painting on over there :)

Do you remember the blue vortex inspired by a video with Mooji from the same week? Last week, I've continued to work at it as well, as it felt too "blue" and too shallow for my liking. At some point, it looked almost completely black.

This is, how it looks now. I like it much more, but I definitely don't like the lines caused by the frame beneath the thin canvas, so I'm preparing new canvases for future paintings covering them completely with snippets of paper, some - even with more than one layer. And I think, I will paint over the collage with some dark color(s) as well.
