Knitting knitting ...

I have been knitting quite a load through the full Moon, Lunar eclipse and the storm we got on top of them here.

On Friday, I finished this pair of leftover socks started who knows when.

Yesterday, I spent most of the day knitting and finishing this sleeve for my daughter's (much less fancy) laptop.

(Sorry for the bad quality of the images, but it's all covered and really dark here today.)

Now, I have started a pair of socks for one of my adult sons. He and his family will be visiting by the end of the months.

Would have knitted more for them already, but I need to take their measurements first. We all here can't wait for them to arrive. This will be the first time we'll see my granddaughter in real life. YAY!

Knitting Galore Still Going On

On Sunday, I started to knit something for the first time in my life. And after 5 decades of knitting, believe me, there is not much left in that category. :)

Needed a couple of days to figure out the best design, yarn and technology for the purpose and the anticipated user.

Yesterday, I posted this image in various places on Facebook to let my friends guess, what it would be. It was so much fun! :D

Now, it's finished. And if your guess was a sleeve for a laptop, you were right!

My youngest son got a high end laptop as a stimulating present from one of his aunts for his studies as a multimedia designer he started in September.

The device needs to be transported back and forth between the school and our home outside the town by public transportation without drawing too much attention to it.

So it needs to be protected. Now, it has its own sleeve. My son and I, both love, how it turned out! YAY!

I even used a special technology to knit and finish it up in one piece to avoid any seams.

Now, my daughter wants such a sleeve for her laptop as well, only in a different color. :) So, stay tuned, peeps!

(Sorry for the different hues of blue in the images! It's really tricky to get them straight with as less day light as we have here lately.)

I really might stay with knitting for a while now, at least for the days (weeks, months) with less natural light here in the North.

I really love to knit for the time being, and there is one very pleasant additional side effect: if I create, while listening to or watching something, it works as an antidote to emotional eating :)

Back on the Creative Track

OK, folks, I'm back on the creative track. YAY!

My sister wanted a green lacy scarf for her birthday. So, as soon, as I finished and delivered a huge translation project (on Tuesday), it was almost only knitting and TV shows. :)

I'm a fast knitter, but, as I hadn't done it for a while, it took me about 10 attempts to figure out the right design. :) Today, we had a small family party, and I could give it to her. She liked it! Phew!

My Creative Space

The last one has been a really busy week for me with regular translation projects to work at and our dog girl been spayed on Thursday.

At the beginning of the week, I discovered a good amount of sea glass laying around in a box for about a year unlisted. I sorted them and shot pics of each of the batches. Although the images aren't the best because of the lack of day light, I started to list the batches one by one in this section of my supplies shop.

Don't know how, but I managed to finish the knitted set for my sister, to add some details to the new batch of cards I showed you last week, and to put some paint down on these 2 new canvas boards as well.

My Creative Space

Lately, there is so little day light here, that arting and showing art on-line is almost impossible. Knitting is much easier with artificial light. At least for me. So I have started this set for my sister.

My Creative Space - Heaps of Joy

The whole week, I was pretty busy, but today, oh, miracle, I have a free afternoon! YAY! Just edited all the pics and can take my time to create this post. Mmmm! Bliss! And it's sunny and rather warm outside! Even more bliss! And it's a super quiet house in the middle of the school brake, as my daughter is visiting her friend. Heaps of bliss! :)

First of all, I want to show you another precious visitor, who arrived on Tuesday: It's Gnomey on his wold tour between the members of my favorite Facebook group. :)

Like I said, it has been a pretty busy week for me, so I just continued working at the pieces I had already started: reknitted the pink cap for myself, almost finished the cap for my daughter, and these 3 manadalas could be finished.

And I have started to receive painted cards from my swap partners. These are the first 3, that arrived so far.

My Creative Space - Cards, Knitting & Mandalas

I don't know, how it happens, but I might be totally free and bored for the whole week, but, on Thursday, I get so busy, that I sometimes even forget about the Creative Space post, not to speak about time to make it. This time, I knew already, that Thursday will be a really busy day for me with 2 translations to be finished and delivered, 18 cards to be sent out to my swap partners and a sale in my supplies shop - to the customer, a birthday party at school in the afternoon, and whatever else might float my boat unexpected. So I prepared my post on Wednesday already and hoped, I can post and link it today. And it worked! YAY!

Last week end, my daughter in law visited us and my creative space for the first time. We spent some really good time together, and it made me really happy to hear, that my art has inspired her to start working at her final creations to graduate from the Academy of Arts.

As to my creative endeavors, I have finished the cards for the swap. No pictures, just a little teaser for now. This is, how they looked at some point in the process :)

My Creative Space

Last week, I added some more details to the cards for a swap. And I'm really starting to like, how they are turning out :)

But, mostly, I knitted this triangular scarf for my little sister.

As I really love the old Scottish pattern I figured out all by myself and the yarn (a mix of natural silk and alpaca wool), I really enjoyed the process. And the episodes of Doctor Who I was watching at the same time definitely added to the pleasure :)

But the main event of the week was no doubt the visit by one of my Facebook friends, the wonderful Canadian artist Gigi Butterfly.

Although we met for the first time in "real"  life, we felt like old friends and I cried like a baby after she left :)

My Creative Space

The last couple of weeks have been pretty busy for me because of a school break and a course for German teachers in the town. But I have done something in my creative space every day as well. Sometimes, it was just a couple of details added to the front cover of my newest art journal...

... or a quick page to capture my mood.

But there are a couple of spreads with loads of experiments inspired by videos and gifts from my on-line friends as well...

...and a page capturing my feelings about others possibly thinking I'm getting old :)

 I even managed to start using letter stamps making hearts and prayer flags for my sisters in the Book of Days by Effy Wild ...

... and started knitting a tussah silk pullover for a friend/customer in Russia. :)
